Meet the Team

Luke Higgins
Optometrist

My professional interests are eye disease management, sports optometry, ocular therapeutics, low vision rehabilitation, and rural and community eye care.

Luke consults at Mount Compass [primary practice] and provides outreach optometry services at; Meningie, Coonalpyn, Raukkan, Murray Bridge, and Port Pirie.

In addition to his clinical practice and business ownership of Luke Higgins Optometry, Luke is part of the teaching team at Flinders University School of Optometry. Luke also practices for the Royal Society for the Blind as a low vision and rehabilitation optometrist. In addition to his commitments at Flinders University and RSB, Luke is a facilitator of the Early Career Optometrists of Victoria/South Australia [ECOV/SA]. 

Luke has also held a position on the board of Optometry South Australia from 2016-2019.

In his spare time Luke enjoys competing in his chosen sport of Clay Target Shooting where he has successfully represented Australia as part of the Australian team, and South Australia with the SA state team. He also loves heading off for the weekend camping and a spot of gem fossicking.

Helen
Optical Dispenser/Optical Assistant

Helen is the optical dispenser for Luke Higgins Optometry.

Helen has a passion for optometry and quality dispensing. Helen also has a passion for rural and remote eye care health and helps organise all the visiting optometry visits to our regional communities.

In her spare time Helen enjoys spending time on her farm, growing fruit and vegetables in her excellent vegetable patch, travel, and spending time with her family.
